TBT to my 5 Star Oppikoppi Experience & How to Win your own

The adventurer in me and (sometimes) FOMO always has me trying out all sorts of things at least once, especially a music experience. More than 20 years of great live act performances, dust, my personal appreciation of a variety of music and my curiosity, found me at the gates of Northam for what was my first experience of the legendary Oppikoppi music festival. Oppikoppi has been a long-standing event on the South African festivals calendar since 1994. As a fan of festivals, I decided to give Oppikoppi a try last year. For a long time Oppikoppi was known as being a white jol, which is understandable since it started out as a rock festival - and we all know that for a very long time, rock music was not popular amongst us black folk, or at least here eMzansi. All you need is a good time attitude and the spirit of adventure. If you are worried about safety and lack of water abilities, fear not, and no previous experience is needed. The trip is safe provided you listen to the guide's' ...

My First Love Affair with India

...the unexpected remarkable underdog that I was all too excited to have a brief but everlasting encounter with. So this past December I was privileged enough to visit India for the first time for a week with my mother and youngest sister Penina. I can confidently say it was love at first experience and boy was it an adventure, one for the books. India is an unexpected "paradise" for curious travel enthusiasts and tourists alike. It is one of the most engaging, colourful, chaotic, spiritual and life-affirming countries I have ever visited thus far. Our trip was off to an interesting start. We landed in Jaipur in the early hours of Thursday morning the 18th of December 2015. Jet lagged and tired we were greeted warmly by our Indian host families. Upon our arrival at the hotel, we were told that our room was not available yet since check out time was only ...
