A Fresh Yet Familiar Intro Into Spring by MRP

Mr Price invited us to Cape Town to view their upcoming 2017 Spring and Summer collection. Many of the clothes from the various MRP brands are on trend and perfect for this summer.

The boudoir touches of lace and sheer in the Oakridge collection were my favourite. Simple, classic and good quality. Bright coloured 90’s inspired outfits and bohemian feels came through strongly, which are both trends you will find in the MRP Project collections coming this August and September.

Bold printed tees are making quite the comeback in the MRP RT range, which will be great for the summer days out. These graphic tees have a playful finish and some with choker details, ruffles and garter to spice things up. You can pick your favorite cut, from slouchy, boxy, muscle or fitted. This item will have you living in tees all summer.

One can expect a lot of bare shoulders and texture overload as feminine takes an edgy turn with a retro flashback. Shoulder details are reigning supreme on the dresses and tops with ultra-femme frills, shirring and florals; giving us serious summer romance.

Footwear this SS/17 is making a serious statement and I am here for all of it. They are really stepping up their game and returning to their good old days of making affordable great shoes. One has a variety of choice, from printed embellished mules to crafty sandals and wedges. Also pastels return in SS/17 in the form of refreshing sneakers and the beloved chunky heel gets a textural update.

This season you can be the “chasing summer” envy at the beach in revamped slogan classic full costumes and crochet high-waisted two pieces, which you can pair with embellished OTT sunnies.

A bonus, we got customized demin jackets designed by the very talented illustrator Keith Vlahakis. as pictured above –  Thank you MRP.

Overall in all honesty, some of the items in the SS/17 MRP collections did not show anything you haven’t quite seen before (but i’ll cut them some slack given that we are a fashion season behind) including off the shoulder inspired looks. But I guess they got to give the people what they want and they have done that really well. I commend MRP for the consistent quality of their pieces and revamping the seen and done before looks in a new and interesting way.
