Landa Willie

21 year old  Founding Editor of Twenty Magazine

I think my greatest achievement thus far was being able to travel to all the provinces last year. Visiting Joburg with like R500 and not having money to go back home, LOL –  that was quite an experience for me. I think it was such a great achievement for me because I channeled my fears and did things I never thought I would ever be able to do and visited places I could only dream of.
Also just recently being afforded the opportunity to  meet and interview Spikiri, which was freaking mind blowing, just sitting next to a pioneer. A man that has had such a huge influence in the SA music scene. I still get goosebumps just thinking about it.
I draw inspiration from my wife and  the amazing team I work with on Twenty and the work so many amazing creatives are doing.
I know I am working towards Twenty growing bigger to a point that I can hire and empower more black people. Personally I have been enjoying throwing myself in the ocean  and allowing the waves to move with my body. Next year this time I might be living in Kenya. I might be doing something way different. I am open to all possibilities.
I will continue to push boundaries by collaborating with other black owned businesses and publications more. Growing our team and launching another publication we’ve been working on.
To my 16 year old self, I would say: Don’t doubt or be afraid of your own capabilities. Stop trying to do everything yourself! You are enough.
