Mr Price SS/16 – The Next Wave Review

by

I have been a long-standing fan of Mr Price clothing – not only are their clothes extremely affordable, fair quality but they’re also on trend (up to date). I was beyond excited when we scored ourselves an exclusive invite to go to Cape Town for the day and preview their new Spring/Summer 2016 collections.

Mr Price sure did not disappoint because they have dropped some real bomb stuff.

The new SS/16 has various ranges to choose from.

The artsy range is for the girl who’s a little more daring and creative with her dress sense, as the “bare shoulders, ruffles, lace and embroidery take key items to the next level.” This range has many cool and funky bomber jackets, slip on dresses, mesh crop tops (of course everyone’s fav) and cheeky bodysuits. There are many pops of colour, a floral flair and an Oriental feel. I believe that even if you are not so out there with your dress sense, there is something for us all. My personal favourite pieces were the mesh bodycon dress, bodysuits and platform sneakers. I can’t get enough of this range.

The Oakridge SS/16 is the real winner this coming season. With many fun cute girly dresses that will have you the talk of the office or summer party, there is something for everyone. Many of the pieces have soft, chic silhouettes and hues. I really love the colours that are prominent in the Oakridge line – the whites, blush pink items, navy pieces, bright orange and floral detail. I am quite a fan of  the whole collection.

I am usually a big fan of the limited Project range. However to be very honest, the sports luxe look that Mr Price Project focuses on this time around, didn’t quite do it for me. On the other hand not all is doom and gloom for the Project line. Athleisure is making a strong come back this season, so there is definitely something for everyone. Yes even me. The new Project light up sneakers serve too much greatness for one’s sole. I can’t wait to get my pair. I think I may even get them in all the colours.

The Mr Price accessories game this SS/16 season knocked it out the park. “The Pop culture and novelty accessories continue to fuel the DIY trend.” The quirky clutchs, purses and phone covers served a whole lot Andy Warhol and Tumblr cool-kid feels.

It is very difficult to pick which items to buy. I can already smell the broke life once I have bought everything on my wishlist. Oh well, it is all worth it. I’m Keen to have a banging new wardrobe this Mr Price SS/16. And trust me you don’t want to miss out.

  • Most of these items look cool — I even like a few (the babydoll dress, the floral shirt, the mesh. Always the mesh) but Mr P’s commitment to not clothing fat people is a real thing so.

    • Thank you for asnswering Nomali. I can understand, because I sometimes have the issue of being thicker at the bottom and really small at the top, so things don’t always quite fit very well. However I think Mr Price is really trying to cater for all sizes. The Oakridge range is really good with that. You just need to really look properly, know the shapes and cuts that work for your body shape. The struggle can be real, but don’t lose hope, sometimes you have to be a little experimental and patient to find you fit.

For your feedback, you are the winner of our hamper, please send us a dm for contact details to send you the items.

      Thank you once again.
